INTRODUCTION
On May 11th and 12th 2005 my son David and I (John) attempted a
continuous traverse of the Cuillin Ridge. We were in Skye for the first two weeks
of May. During the first week the weather had been extremely changeable
and become a lot colder. By the end of the week the peaks were
covered in snow and
temperatures at sea level plummeted to only 2°C at night. However,
by
Tuesday of the second week conditions had improved, a high
pressure
area was moving in and good weather was forecast for the next few days.
We
decided to make our attempt on the Wednesday and Thursday leaving us
the
Friday to retrieve our tent and other equipment from Coir' a' Ghrunnda.
